What is PVC?
The Parent Volunteer Committee is responsible for all parent volunteer functions and fundraising events for our school.
This organization is governed by the Executive Board elected according to the PVC constitution and bylaws.
All parents are welcome at PVC meetings.
When does the PVC meet?
The PVC meets the first Thursday of the month, in the School Hall - check the school calendar for specific times. Please join us and find out about ongoing events. When you attend a meeting, your child receives a free dress pass for the day following the meeting.
About fundraising
Each family is required to fundraise dollars for the school. The amount you are expected to raise depends on the number of children you have enrolled. For 1 child, the amount is $500. For 2 or more children, the amount is $750. Unrestricted donations to the school count dollar for dollar towards fundraising credit. Any amount over the required minimum will be credited to your next year's fundraising requirement at 50%.
About the 40 hour minimum requirement
The school requires each family to volunteer forty service hours per school year. There is a $25.00 per hour charge for missed service hours. Plenty of opportunities are available to all families to fulfill their requirements.
Who can Volunteer?
Parents, grandparents and adult family members of St Cyril's students are encouraged to get involved with different activities throughout the year.
A Volunteering Request Form goes out to every family at the end of the year. If you would like to chair an event, it is a two year commitment.
How do I get involved?
Contact the school office, room parents, or chairpersons for each event. Also, the weekly family envelope that comes home with your child contains announcements and information regarding each month's events. If we have your email address, you will get a weekly PVC newsletter via email.
How do I get credit for my hours?
Volunteered hours are logged in and reported to the chairperson of each event, or room parent, who then reports hours to the office.
I am very busy at work. Is there anyway I can still help?
Yes, we can always use your help. There are many jobs that can be done from home.
Chairperson: Fariza Corbani
What types of volunteer functions are there?
There are special events throughout the year that require planning and implementation. For a list of events for this year, see the Event / Fundraising Credit page of the website and feel free to contact the chairperson.
